**IMPORTANT BULLETIN** - March 3rd, 2011 It has been brought to our attention through our 24 hour emergency response provider (INFOTRAC) that they have received numerous calls from US DOT, Transport Canada and the Department of Homeland Security to verify legal registration of our members. Please be aware that the 1-800-535-5053 and 1-352-323-3500 (international Number) is to be only used by the companies that have registered through the NFA. The contract number is unique to your company only and should NOT be provided to your suppliers. This bulletin is being sent out so that you receive your merchandise in a timely manner without any delay. If inspection is done and INFOTRAC cannot verify that the shipper is registered it will delay shipments and in some cases merchandise may be returned to your vendor until they have registered with a service on their own. Please let your vendors know they can register through NFA if they are members or they may contact INFOTRAC directly at the numbers listed above and ask for Randy Lee. Randy B. Lee |

Dear Importer/Broker of Consumer Fireworks: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has established permanent staffing at the Import Safety Commercial Targeting and Analysis Center (CTAC) in Washington, D.C., and is working in cooperation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to implement new enforcement measures. The Commission’s fireworks program is administered by the Office of Compliance & Field Operations and has traditionally reviewed entry packets (i.e., Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, and CBP Form 3461) of incoming consumer 1.4g fireworks shipments submitted by importers or their brokers. Beginning October 1, 2010, CPSC will implement new procedures for identifying and selecting fireworks entries for examination and sampling. CPSC staff will no longer request importers to fax all consumer fireworks entry packets to CPSC in advance (as has been the practice for many years). Staff will now notify importers and brokers via a Notice of Sampling and Conditional Release if their shipment has been identified for further examination. Selected fireworks entries will be conditionally released to the importer and at this time CPSC staff will request the entry packet, along with the required certificate of compliance to be submitted from the importer of record or their broker. Follow-up correspondence will be sent indicating which items, if any, will be sampled and tested. All Entry packets should be sent to the following CPSC office when you are notified of sampling: For importers located west of Mississippi River, please send the entry packets to: westerninvoicereview@cpsc.gov OR Fax: 866-269-1118 For importers located east of the Mississippi River, please send the entry packets to: easterninvoicereview@cpsc.gov OR Fax: 866-249-2575 Just to emphasize, beginning October 1st, you will not need to send entry packets for consumer fireworks shipments unless CPSC specifically requests them. If you should have any questions about this change in procedures, please contact Demar Granados at (301) 504-7596 or dgranados@cpsc.gov. |

March 2010 - Important Changes to Emergency Response System & Notice to ALL DEMO Companies |
About Our Organization Formed in 1992 through the foresight of President Emeritus Cam Starr, the NFA goal is to to protect the rights of individuals and companies to utilize and enjoy fireworks. We represent individuals and industry to the various Federal and State agencies which regulate fireworks. Safety is a key concern. We hold a seat on the NFPA Committee for pyrotechnics and ensure that reasonable regulations to protect those that utilize fireworks allow the freedom to pursue the pyrotechnic art. Please check out our Board page for more information on each of the board members.
