DOT NFA Bulletin March 2015

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)

Updated CSA and SMC

Attention all Motor Carriers:  DOT’s FMCSA has begun deactivating DOT numbers for carriers that fail to summit the required bi-annual update.  All motor carriers are required to go on line to the address below and update their carrier profile bi annually.  If you fail to comply with this requirements you may be operating without a valid DOT number which would be a very serious violation.

Companies that transport 1.3G fireworks are meeting this requirement when you file the MCS 150B to renew your HM Safety Permit. It is the companies that are not required to have the HM Safety Plan (1.4G Fireworks) that forget to complete the MCS 150 when required.

Each 1.4G company needs to make sure they are still active by going to the web site shown below and if overdue immediately update their MCS 150.

NOTE TO CARRIERS: To login into the SMS website and see all of your safety data, you will need an FMCSA-issued U.S. DOT Number Personal Identification Number (PIN) (NOT a Docket Number PIN). If you do not know or have forgotten your PIN, you can request one via http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/ and select 'Click here to request your Docket Number PIN and/or USDOT Number PIN.' Be sure to request a U.S. DOT Number PIN, NOT a Docket Number PIN.

The MCS 150 to update your carrier profile must be completed in accordance with the following guidelines.

(a) Each motor carrier that conducts operations in interstate commerce (or intrastate commerce if the carrier requires a Safety Permit as per § 385.400 of this chapter) must file a Motor Carrier Identification Report, Form MCS-150, or the Combined Motor Carrier Identification Report and HM Permit Application, Form MCS-150B for permitted carriers, at the following times:
